Can you imagine a world where you don’t have to sacrifice your earth-conscious values for quality skincare and body care?

I asked myself this same question while creating Sevansa, and for me, the answer was a resounding “yes, I can.”

Hi, I’m Vanessa— a wife, mother, nurse practitioner, lover of all things botanical, and the sole artisan behind Sevansa.

Each botanically-inspired product that I thoughtfully handcraft for you is vegan, cruelty-free, and biodegradable—but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There are many ways that Sevansa is aiming to remain kind to the planet.

Recyclable Packaging

All Sevansa product packaging is minimal, recyclable, and composed of either glass or paper. If plastic is used, it is typically a product closure (such as a sprayer top) and is less than 6% of the total product packaging.

All shipping materials are 100% paper-based, recyclable, and are often repurposed from supply orders received during raw material ordering.

Product Ingredients

I strive to remain mindful of ethical ingredient sourcing for each product, so my formulations include many botanicals that are Fair Trade Certified™, organic, wildharvested, or non-GMO whenever possible.

Also, Sevansa products do not contain certain botanicals that are listed as endangered or unsustainable—such as palm oil, sandalwood essential oil, and rosewood essential oil, to name a few. The good news is that there are a growing number of sustainable farmers for these botanicals. However, I’ve decided to omit these oils from Sevansa products at this time.

Biodegradability

Every Sevansa product is purely plant-based and biodegradable. However, most biodegradable products are broken down in soil, not water—including soap. While suitable for use in your shower, bath, or sink, the National Park Service recommends that you avoid using any soap in a natural lake or waterway, since even the most plant-based biodegradable soap can negatively affect aquatic life in natural bodies of water.

So, if you take a skin-nurturing Sevansa soap bar with you on a camping trip, it is recommended that you do all bathing, dishwashing, and cleaning at least 200 feet away from the natural water source. Please dispose of the soapy water in a 6-inch-deep hole in the ground to allow bacteria in the soil to properly biodegrade the soap.

Rooted in Nature

My love for the botanical world started in childhood. I was around 8 years old when I attempted to make my first “rose perfume.” I gathered fragrant pink rose petals from the rosebush in the backyard garden, placed the petals in a small plastic bag filled with cool water, and left the bag outside overnight to allow my concoction to “steep.”

While this first attempt at natural perfume creation didn’t quite turn out as planned (I ended up with soggy petal water), it was the start of something beautiful—the start of my love for all things botanical, which eventually led to a deep respect for nature and our beautiful planet.

It's All About Kindness

One of the Sevansa core values is Kindness—to self, others, and the planet.

Every Sevansa sustainability measure aids in showing kindness to the planet, and ultimately, kindness to all (including yourself). By protecting our planet, we
ensure its beauty and resources remain for generations to come. You can rest in
knowing you’re receiving a mindfully-handcrafted Sevansa product for your skin, body, and home—without sacrificing your earth-conscious values.

 Kindly,

Vanessa S.
